The “Lisa” – an AO Original Portrait

AO had known Lisa almost all her life as she considered him a “big brother” because he was a close friend of bother her older brothers, godfather to her nephew and was a honored family member celebrating many Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays at her families house.

After hearing the devistating news of Lisa’s passing, and seeing the footage live as her and thousands celebrated the 2023-2024 Chiefs championship at Union Station in KCMO, and hearing about the incident directly from her husband Mike, AO knew he had to give Mike and the kids somethng to honor their lost loved one.

After completing the piece AO couldn’t find the right time to present the piece to Mike until he hear that Mike was throwing out the first pitch at the 76th annual Mexican-American fast pitch tournament in Newton, Kansas. Mike and AO had played that honored tournament annually for most of their years they played the sport and a few years AO and Mike played on the same team – The Kansas City Bravos, which was the time Lisa and Mike began their friendship. AO thought it would be the perfect occasion to present Mike the painting. So, AO contact tournament director,Todd Henner, and asked if he could present it at the opening ceremonies and Mr. Henner thought is was a great idea.

So with this presentation scheduled, AO and his fellow teammates starting asking players from the team to join them in Newton, Kansas for the presentation.

And on July 5th, 2024, the portrait of Lisa Lopez-Galvan painted by her big brother AO and was presented to her husband Micheal “Mike G” Galvan at the Athletic park pitching mound as a gift from AO and the rest of The Kansas City Bravos (1990’s) teammates.
