“Wonder Woman” – an AO Original

Started at the 2019 Planet Comicon in Kansas City during a live drawing appearance at the space of friend and fellow artist Darryl Woods, AO took his design and painting talents to the event at Bartle Hall in KCMO.

2019 Wonder Woman by Anthony Oropeza AO

For the first time ever, AO took the opportunity and set up his easel and paints with the hope to attract more comic con goers to Darryls table.  The painting went on all day Saturday while AO met and chatted with many con-goers.

The con was a great venue, and so inspirational to the piece.  Fans and comic con guest loved watching the work-in-progress, and they enjoyed watching an actual live painting develop in front of their very eyes.

A Versatile Designer/Painter/Artist

Although it seems AO just paints sports pieces, don’t be fooled, if you haven’t seen his body of work in the past 4 years, his social media channels will prove otherwise.  He will never shy away from his childhood love for cartoons, Looney Tunes, Disney, animation, and of course comic books!  And any chance AO gets to display his love for cartoons, animation and comic book art, he will.  With that, AO also brings an unique style and excitement to his comic book and animation pieces that kids of all ages can appreciate.

We hope you enjoy this beautiful work of art as much as AO enjoyed creating it.  And for AO, it was, and always will be a huge honor to create work for others and their homes.

From AO about the work:  “Designing and painting my first “Wonder Woman” was a great honor and experience.  It was a pleasure and a challenge.  This piece, like my “Beauty and the Beast” piece gave me an opportunity to take a “couple minutes” and step away from my sports art and create another cool piece that was not as raw and rugged as the athletes I normally paint.

Although the Wonder Woman is a real-life person in this piece, and not an animation character, I still wanted to give it a comic book feel.

This “Wonder Woman” piece is another on of those pieces that I really liked that art I wish I could have kept for myself, but knowing it went to a home of two huge Wonder Woman fans is a huge honor and very satifying.”
